What is HKSEC?
Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge (HKSEC) is a business plan competition to help turning creative business ideas into meaningful and sustainable commercial ventures that promote social good. It aims to strengthen students’ understanding of social enterprises and to encourage them to employ entrepreneurial approaches to solve real world issues.
Since 2007, the HKSEC, a social venture business plan organized by the Center for Entrepreneurship of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, has been at the frontier in educating students and the general public about social enterprises in Hong Kong. Through a structured competition model, HKSEC encourages students to employ a creative entrepreneurial approach to solve real world social issues.
As of April 2011, HKSEC is the first and only inter-collegiate social venture business competition in Hong Kong. Over 2,200 students from 21 academic institutions have had the opportunities to showcase their creative ideas and desire of being a change agent in our society by joining this competition. They have generated over 400 business ideas for social enterprise. To carry the success from previous competitions, more resources and ideas have been added to HKSEC 2010.
